(...continued) For websites which have no PageRank (PR), once Google knows about a website it will assign it a PageRank (PR) upon the next Google update. However, websites without any PageRank, or ranked with a PR of 0 may well be banned from Google and leaving a link there could be counter-productive to your website promotion efforts through any link association with your site. Remember that Google devaluates reciprocal links, no matter the reason, because of the popularity of automated reciprocate link exchange programs. Many of us webmasters feel that this is done unfairly, but Google is the 800 pound gorilla. Maybe someday they will realize their mistake. Afterall, I often link to good resources (as evidence I point to our Free Web Directories Lists. So by offering links to such valuable traffic building resources for our customers and website visitors, I discount the free web directories links which point back to us. This is a shame that Google should really address. Luckily, there are plenty of things one can do to improve a website's presence on the worldwide web. Related: Back to:
