Free Submission General Subject Web Directories Lists
Free web directories offer a great way to build-up your incoming one-way links. This is especially good for new websites that are just getting started. However, be sure that the directory you are listing with isn't banned in Google, Yahoo! or MSN. Since the major search engines are usually the pickiest and also share ban lists between themselves, one way to be sure that the service you are looking to list with has a Google PageRank (PR) of at least 1 or more. You can gauge this with the Google Toolbar. Although any website with a rank of 0 may simply be new or just had not been indexed by Google yet, this is a sure way to assure that you are not listing your link on and associating with a banned site.
Most directories are free, and these are the web directories which we are trying to list. Online directories which require a payment really do not usually have the traffic to justify the payment. A few exceptions to this rule are Yahoo!, BOTW.org, GoGuides.org & DirSpace.
